11/27/98 Good morning.... ++ ++ ++ ++ ++ ++ ++ ++ ++ ++ ++ ++ ++ ++ We receive His blessings and know
His Word, but do we know Him? ++ ++ ++ ++ ++ ++ ++ ++ ++ ++ ++ ++ ++ ++ Hi Dear Friends!! Don't mind the title of this devo.. I think it's just my fancy way of saying: "Hey, I've got an inspiration, and I'll bust a gut if I don't share it with ya!" Hope this finds you all well! Better git on yer apron for this one.. ! Course , if you're like me, you keep one stashed in a kitchen drawer for "such a time as this." ( Can you believe it? I really DO own an apron! ) See ya at the end! Mark 10:16 Two little girls were playing with their dolls and singing, "Safe in The Arms of Jesus." "How do you know you are safe?" Asked the older sister. "Because I am holding Jesus with both my hands tight." "That's not safe, "said the other, "Suppose Satan came along and cut your hands off?" The child looked troubled, dropped dolly, and thought. Suddenly her face shone with Joy. "Oh, I forgot! Jesus is holding me; and Satan cannot cut off His hands, so I am safe." "When Christ Holds Us" <>@<><JE§U§><<>@<><JE§U§><<>@<><JE§U§><<>@<><JE§U§>< One of the biggest mistakes we
can make is to start grieving over things that haven't
even happened yet. <>@<><JE§U§><<>@<><JE§U§><<>@<><JE§U§><<>@<><JE§U§>< A city dweller moved to a farm and bought
a cow. Shortly after he did, the cow went dry. When he
reported this fact to a neighbor farmer, the farmer
expressed surprise. The city man said he was surprised
too. "I can't understand it either, for if ever a
person was considerate of an animal, I was of that cow.
If I didn't need any milk, I didn't milk her. If I only
needed a quart, I only took a quart." The farmer
tried to explain that the only way to keep milk flowing
is not to take as little as possible from the cow, but to
take as much as possible. Is that not also true of the
Christian life? Those who only turn to God in need miss
the real joy that flows from a daily infilling of His
Spirit. <>@<><JE§U§><<>@<><JE§U§><<>@<><JE§U§><<>@<><JE§U§>< Me again, Friends!! Those of you that have been hanging onto
the "coattails of my ramblings" are familiar
with the fact that I see "justabout" everything
in analogies and allegories. Well, ( hehe ) today is NO
exception! I have some things running through my noggin
that I wanna spill out, and you guys sure do well on
wipin up what I spill, so here goes: Well, anyway, one of the family "favs" is hen dressing, and I got this analogy while preparing it. When I share the recipe with others, I emphasize the importance of " slow boiling the heck" outta that hen. My mother learned this secret, and passed it onto me. I slow simmer it all night long, and the next morning, there is a thick rich broth justa waiting to be poured on some cornbread! The biggest element in this, is the fact that the rich broth is a product of "taking the time, and getting to the marrow" if you catch my drift. I would like to attempt to share this in laymen's terms, with a spiritual twist. There have been times when I made this dressing, and I boiled the hen for say, a couple of hours, and then poured it on the cornbread, with a little chopped eggs and celery...and it was fairly good. But it never compared to the dressing I made with the "rich slow boiled broth." THAT one turns out so good, it'll make you "slap yer granny." However, I don't recommend doing that. You might have content palate, but you'll also wind up wif a sore grandma! ( tee hee ) The rich broth of our Christian walk can only be produced by a series of slow bubbles that are constantly "pulling" on the inside flavor of our inner being...our "spiritual marrow" so to speak... Ps 51:6 Ever get to a place in your walk where you think: "I want to arrive to the climax of this walk, and I want to do it now!" Well, if'n ya do, and God goes ahead and pours you on the cornbread, you won't taste NEARLY as good as you would if you just allowed the "slow boil" to accumulate that thick rich broth that is so pleasing to others, and so needful for you. ( and me!) God knows what He is doing, and it often takes TIME to acquire that which we so greatly desire. Our strongest and deepest desire should be nothing less that grasping for that term called "hidden in Christ." Everything else should be cooked on the smaller eyes of the stove. The "big eye" should always be reserved for Him. Sometimes I throw in a few chicken
bouillon cubes ( Man, I just had to go to the cabinet and
see how to spell bouillon. hehe ) to enhance the flavor
of the broth. And God does that too. He throws in a
"peace" cube, and a "love" cube, and
there are others labeled joy, patience, kindness,
goodness, gentleness and self-control ( Galatians 5:22 )
These "cubes" enhance the flavor of our walk,
and are put in the pot as the slow boil continues. And then, when the time is "just right" and God gently picks you up with a set of pot holders that were made especially for YOUR pot, ( cause you are so special to Him, you fearfully and wonderfully made person, You! ) ( Psalm 139:14 ) He pours you out, and mingles you with Himself in such a "melt in your mouth" sort of way, causing the aroma to produce such a sweet smelling savour. This aroma will draw others to the table, and you know there's gonna be puh-lenty of cranberry sauce! So, what do you say? Let God's Spirit
"simmer" you, all the way to the marrow of your
whole being. Hand the knobs on the stove over to His
"more than capable" Hands. Trust Him. KNOW that
He has everything under control. So what if the pot of
butterbeans on the next eye just got scorched? Don't let
that deter you. Pray. Praise Him. Trust God with your
circumstances. Trust Him with YOU. Giblets and all! The
giblets are the parts He uses for the gravy, which is a
whole "nuther" devo! God Bless you all sooo much!! In Christ!! Graphics, design & hosting by:
