++ ++ ++ ++ Hi Brethren!! I heard it several times, and sensed it was time to come in and do my comments for the devotional. I turned on my computer and did a mail check. In the midst of an ABUNDANT response to the prayer request I sent out for Jason, was a letter, with a testimony included. I feel led to share this testimony in the devotional. I recently met this precious lady in the flesh, and she is a "Little Dynamo" for Jesus! God put her in my path to help organize a retreat, and she has been a blessing in my life since! Please read on and be blessed!! He will gather the lambs with His arm, and carry them in His bosom.... Isaiah 40:11 In 1857 a tightrope walker named Blondin stretched a two-inch cable across the gorge of the Niagara Falls, attracting a large crowd. He said to the onlookers, "How many of you believe that I can carry the weight of a man on my shoulders across this gorge?" The crowd shouted and cheered their belief that he could do it. Sure enough, Blondin picked up a sack of sand weighing about 180 pounds and carried it across the falls. Then Blondin said, "How many of you believe that I can actually carry a person across the gorge?" Many people in the crowd indicated that they thought he could do it. Then Blondin called out, "Which one of you will climb on my shoulders and let me carry you across the falls?" Suddenly there was silence. Everyone wanted to see Blondin person across the gorge and many believed he could. But nobody wanted to put his life in Blondin's hands. Some time later, Blondin did carry a man across Niagara Falls. The man was Blondin's manager, who had known the tightrope walker personally for many years. "You must not trust your own feelings, but mine," Blondin told his manager as they prepared for the crossing. "You will feel like turning when we don't need to turn. And if you trust your feelings, we will both fall. You must become part of me." That is what faith in Jesus is: knowing Him personally and entrusting our eternal life into His hands. Did you notice how Boldin gave these instructions ahead of time? This could be likened to a "Spiritual Reconnaissance." God gives instructions ahead of time, to those who seek Him early, whether it is early in the day, or early in the situation. A reconnaissance team in the military is the "forerunner group," and they obtain preliminary information on the enemy camp. A good example of this would be what God showed Gideon. Also, Boldin was aware that the noise of the waterfall and the sight of the swift current would be fearsome to his manager. The "noise of the waterfall" could represent the negative voices around us, be it the voice of the enemy, or other people, or perhaps our own. It is important to tune in to the voice of the "Good Shepherd," via the Holy Spirit, and receive further instructions from His Word. John 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: The "swift current" could be the circumstances that we see with our natural eyes. Those things CAN cause us to turn back BUT, the last time I checked...Psalm 91 is still in His Word, and it's encouraging truth can permeate our beings with our permission. I remember reading an account of an incident related by Corrie Ten Boom. She was walking down the street and felt a sudden darkness. She didn't "feel" God's Presence. Later, in His Word, He assured her that He was so close to her, that what she was sensing, was His "shadow." When He is carrying us through the hard places, it may seem dark...but, if we reach up for His neck, and snuggle, we will realize that, we too, are in the "shadow of the Almighty." I will close with a copy of the chapter of Psalm 91. I encourage you to slowly read it, and digest it, and then...bank on it. It's His Word...and God's Word is truth. <John 17:17> I Love You Brethren!! God Bless You All!! In Christ!
