The Pot of God At The End Of The Rainbow

Well, I saw the movie. You know, THE movie. If you're still scratching your head, then it's a safe bet that you've been mercilessly strapped to the Mars Rover for the past few months. I say that in jest with a touch of love. If at first glance you think I am about to give my take, then...think again. Oh, I'll mention the fact that it gave me a serious reality check and helped me to refocus on what I already knew. The graphic visual that this movie depicts cannot help but bring home what took place just for us. Yep, you, me and those that missed this article. You can sum up the two hour intensity in just three words: It's about love. "For God so loved the world..." I'll bet you know the rest of that verse and it's a giant possibility that you know where to find it. I've heard the arguments and the heated debates surrounding this movie. My biggest question was: "Why weren't these same arguments presented in regards to the other remakes?" One can only draw his or her own conclusions, but my biggest guess would be because this latest one really hit home. All the stops were pulled and we were taken back in time to see Isaiah Chapter 53 come to life.

Okay, so I said the article wasn't about my take, but then again, I am known for taking bunny trails. That one was loaded with carrots so I couldn't resist. However, here's what I wanted to say: I was sitting by my fireplace this morning and I thought about Mel Gibson. Here's a man, who, in his own words, had "everything." He had fame, fortune and was even voted Sexiest Man Alive. That's a tall order for one person. Yet, in an interview he stated that in spite of it all, he was spiritually bankrupt. He knew what some of us are still trying to find out. The American Dream of fame and fortune doesn't really provide inner satisfaction. There are some thinking at this moment, "I'd sure like to find out!" Okay, then go for it. Those that went ahead of you could save you the trouble and break the news that there really is no pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Mel knew there was something more, something deeper. And he got a taste of that something deeper once he came to the end of Mel. It's not the end of the rainbow that we find the gold. It's the end of ourselves. Once we exhaust our own resources and realize that outward circumstances can't bring contentment, then we are getting somewhere. At this point, most of us are in a pit. If you've ever been in a pit, there's only one direction with light. Up. And while you're looking, notice the fine workmanship of those neat swishy clouds. And hey, what about that awesome bird that just flew over? Do you think it just poofed here by itself? No, no...it was just one piece of evidence that there is One waiting with His hand extended. Waiting for us to realize that there is so much more than these natural eyes can see. Once the eyes of our heart are enlightened to the reality of our existence, we will never be the same. For those who have seen the movie, that's where we begin. At the foot of the cross. For those who haven't seen it yet, open your heart and watch what happens. For those who don't intend to see it, I recommend the book. Either way, there's your answer.
